Nathan Oakes
Co-Owner / Chief Marketing Officer
Nate graduated from Kent State with a bachelor's in marketing and has spent over 24 years working with the OOD. Through this work, he gained inspiration through his clients, teaching them to learn independence, providing positive influences and support, and allowing them to create a better future. Nate and his wife have three children and he is a YMCA board member. In his free time he enjoys golfing, fishing and coaching his kid's sports.

Tammy Benson
Co-Owner / Chief Financial Officer
Tammy has spent over 26 years working with the OOD and had a variety of work experiences before entering the rehabilitation field in 1998. She has been married to her husband Bill for 37 years and they share 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren. She is a VFW auxiliary trustee and has been a partner/co-owner/CFO for AEC since 2006.

Dominic Garrini
Director of Job Development
Dom is a 2014 graduate of Kent State University with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration and a Minor in Business. He is a huge Cleveland sports fan and is an avid fan of Mixed Martial Arts and Professional Wrestling. Dom leads our team of job developers and helps clients obtain employment by teaching job seeking skills, applying for open positions, interviewing supports, and resume creation.

Paula Mehta
Assistant Director of Job Development
Paula has spent the past 15 years of her career dedicated to empowering individuals to achieve their goals. She began as a pre-school enrichment teacher for five years, which provided a strong foundation for her current role as a Job Development Coach. Paula's passion for helping others and her commitment to continuous learning, fueled by her education at Ohio University drive her to constantly improve and empower those around her.

Allyson Widder
Job Developer / Job Coach
Allyson has been with Advanced Employment Connection for 7 years as a job coach and job developer. She graduated from Muskingum University with a bachelor’s degree in health administration and public health. Allyson takes pride in making a change in clients lives that will last a life time. In her free time she enjoys attending country music concerts, and taking her dog on walks.

Sal Lijoi
Job Coach
Sal graduated from Kent State in 1976 with a BA in Criminology and went on to work for the Summit County Probation Department for 31 years as a line officer, then supervisor. During this time he also helped to write the Policy and Procedure Manual for the Probation Department. Sal loves sports (especially golf) and Ohio State Football. His passion is watching granddaughters participate in sports.

Job Coach
JoAnn has worked with AEC since 2018 and prior to that, was a school teacher at Canton City Schools. She has BA in Education and a Gifted Endorsement and is married with 2 adult sons and 5 grandchildren. In her free time, JoAnn is passionate about her faith and spending time with her family camping.

Job Coach
Joshua has a long history in manufacturing, in industries such as beverage and rubber. He and his wife have been married nearly 30 years and have 5 children, 2 of them being special needs kids that have helped inform his coaching style. He has a bachelor’s in psychology and loves guiding clients during their employment journeys, teaching relevant skills and providing de-escalation techniques for stressful moments on the job.

Susan is a graduate of Kent State University and worked for 30+ years as a teacher of elementary and junior high students. She spent the last 10 years of her career at Mansfield Correctional Institution teaching Math to the inmates. Susan and her husband share a son, daughter and 4 grandchildren. At AEC, Susan is a job developer and loves working with our team to help people find employment in the community.

Mike Headland
Job Coach
Mike has a BS in Industrial Supervision from the University of Houston and retired from the Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities after 22 years of service. Through his work at SCBDD he enjoyed helping countless numbers of individuals become more independent in their lives. Mike and his wife, Bonnie, have two grown children, Andy and Jessica. In his spare time he plays golf, pickleball and works out at the North Canton YMCA.
